Professor Erwu Liu received the Ph.D. degree in 2001, from the Department of Opto-Electronic Engineering/State Key Lab. of Laser Technology, Huazhong University of Science & Technology, CHINA.
From 2001 to 2003, he was with the Optical Network Division (OND) at Alcatel-Lucent as project manager and senior consultant, and then a senior research scientist at the Research & Innovation (R&I, Bell-Labs China) from 2003 to 2007.
In 2007, he left Alcatel-Lucent and joined Imperial College London as a post-doc research associate working on wireless, in Professor Kin Leung's group.
Since March 2011, he has been with Tongji University as a full professor at the School of Electronics and Information, working on Positioning, Blockchain, AI and Complex Networks, Blockchain and IoT. Research interests include: Indoor Localization, Blockchain, Machine Learning, Magnetic Communications, Through-the-Earth Communications, Complex Networks and Big Data, Wireless and IoT, etc.
His has won various awards including the Microsoft Indoor Localization Competition (1st Place), China International Industry Fair (1st Prize), China College Students' "Internet+" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition (1st Prize), etc. He has developed the most-known indoor positioning systems in China, including the AR Positioning and Navigation System for the China International Import Exhibition (CIIE), National Stadium - Bird's Nest, National Exhibition and Convention Center (NECC), etc. He also works on navigation systems for the visually impaired.
Prof. Liu is a regular reviewer for various journal and conferences, including IEEE Network, IEEE ACCESS, IEEE Communications Magazine, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IEEE Transactions on Communications, IEEE JSAC, IEEE Communications Letters, Elsevier Computer Networks, Springer Wireless Personal Communications, Wiley Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, OSA Optics Express, OSA Journal of Optical Networking, ETRI Journal, IEEE INFOCOM/ICC/GLOBECOM/WCNC/PIMRC/VTC/ICBC/SECON/WiMESH/QSHINE, etc. He has published 100+ papers, 40+ patents, and 9 standardization contributions.
